Forget is operated by Capable Koala LLC ("Forget", "we", "us"). This policy explains what information we collect, why we collect it, who we share it with, and what control you have over it.
It covers all the places you can use Forget:
These are one service sharing one account, so most of this policy applies everywhere. Where something applies to only one platform, we say so.
When you create an account we collect your email address, your first and last name, and your password or, if you use Sign in with Apple or Google, the identifier those services give us. If you add a profile picture, we store that too. We do not see or store your password ourselves; our authentication provider handles it.
Forget exists to hold what you are working on, so most of what we store is content you write. This includes your task titles and descriptions, your labels, your daily goals, your notes and freeform text, and the structure you organise them into. We also record how you work through them: which tasks you complete, when you complete them, how long your focus sessions run, target and actual durations, your best focus score, and whether you wrapped up your day. Your data is encrypted and protected with the latest security protocols to ensure privacy and confidentiality. We are committed to using this information solely for the purpose of improving the functionality and user experience of our platform.
During onboarding we ask a few optional questions, including what you do for work, what your biggest challenge is, and whether you have ADHD. Your answers are stored against your account and are shared with our analytics provider so we can understand who Forget serves and improve it. The ADHD question asks you to tell us something about your attention and focus, which may be considered health-related information. You do not have to answer it, and you can ask us to delete your answers at any time using the contact details at the end of this policy.
Forget offers a free tier and a paid tier called Forget Pro, available as a monthly subscription, a yearly subscription, or a one-time lifetime purchase.
We do not collect or store your card number. Payments made on the web are processed by Stripe, and purchases made in the iOS app are processed by Apple. What we receive and store is the result of the purchase: which product you bought, whether your subscription is active, when it renews or expires, and the identifiers our payment providers give us so we can match a purchase to your account. For iOS purchases this includes a pseudonymous identifier we derive from your account id and pass to Apple so that a purchase can be linked back to the right account.
When you use the iOS app we collect information about the device, such as the device model, operating system version, app version, language and time zone. If you turn on notifications, we also collect the push token Apple issues for your device so we can deliver notifications to it, and we tag your notification profile with your time zone and whether you are on the free or Pro tier so that messages arrive at a sensible hour and are relevant to you.
The iOS app does not ask for permission to track you across other companies' apps and websites, and it does not use the advertising identifier. It also does not request access to your location, camera, microphone, contacts, calendar, photos or health data.
We record how Forget is used so we can find what is broken and decide what to build. This includes the screens and pages you open and the actions you take, such as creating, editing, completing, reordering or deleting a task, starting or pausing a timer, wrapping up your day, viewing the paywall, and starting a subscription.
To be clear about something that is easy to assume otherwise, our analytics are not anonymous. Analytics events are recorded against your account and include your email address and name. Some events also include the content of the task involved, such as its title and description. If you would prefer your usage not to be analysed this way, contact us at [email protected] and we will opt you out.
When something goes wrong we collect a diagnostic report so we can fix it. This includes the error and where it happened in our code, the device and operating system, performance timings, and a trail of the recent actions leading up to the problem.
Unlike our analytics, these reports are not tied to your account. We do not attach your account id, your name or your email address to them. In the iOS app a report carries only a random identifier for that installation of the app, which lets us see how many devices ran into a problem without telling us who they belong to; it is not connected to your account, and it changes if you delete and reinstall the app. The iOS app also removes identifiers that would otherwise appear inside the web addresses recorded in a report, so that the report cannot be traced back to you that way, and it never captures screenshots or the contents of your screen.
Our servers and hosting provider automatically log standard technical information when you use Forget, including your IP address, browser type and version, the pages you request, and the date and time. We also record your IP address at the moment you give or withdraw marketing consent, so that we have a record of that choice.
If you email us, take part in a survey, or contact support, we keep what you send us so we can respond and follow up.
We do not sell your personal information, and we do not use the content of your tasks to train artificial intelligence models.
We do not sell your information. Apart from the Meta and Google advertising tags on our website, described below and under cookies, we do not share your information with anyone for their own marketing. We do rely on a number of service providers to run Forget, and your information passes through them for that purpose only. These are:
We may also disclose information if the law requires it, or where it is necessary to protect our rights, our users or the public, and we may transfer information as part of a merger, acquisition or sale of assets, in which case we will tell you before your information becomes subject to a different policy.
The iOS app can send you two kinds of message: reminders scheduled by the app on your device, and notifications we send from our servers. Both are optional and off until you allow them. Reminders scheduled on your device tell you how many tasks are open and never include the names of your tasks. You can turn notifications off at any time in the app settings, or in the iOS Settings app under Notifications.
Forget offers widgets and Live Activities that can show your current and upcoming tasks. By default these display the names of your tasks, which means they can be visible on your Lock Screen without unlocking your device. If you would rather they were not, open Settings in the app and set Lock Screen task names to Hide, and the widgets will show counts instead of names.
Our website and web app use cookies and similar technologies to keep you signed in, remember your preferences, measure how the site is used, and measure the performance of our advertising. This includes cookies set by Clerk for your session, by PostHog for analytics, by Stripe during checkout, and by Meta and Google for advertising measurement.
We also set a cookie named forgetAttribution, which lasts for 30 days and records how you first arrived at Forget, such as the campaign parameters in the link you followed.
You can block or delete cookies in your browser settings. If you block the cookies we use to keep you signed in, Forget will not work properly. The iOS app does not use advertising cookies or trackers.
If you are in the United Kingdom or the European Economic Area, we rely on the following legal bases:
We keep your account information and your content for as long as your account exists, so that Forget still has your tasks in it when you come back. When you delete your account we delete that information as described below. Diagnostic, crash and analytics records are kept for a limited period by the providers named above and then removed on their normal schedules. We may keep records of purchases and other information for longer where we need them to meet a legal, tax or accounting obligation, or to resolve a dispute.
You can delete your account yourself. On the web, open your settings and choose Delete Account. In the iOS app, open Settings and choose Delete Account. You will be asked to confirm, and the action cannot be undone.
Deleting your account:
Two things are worth knowing. If you bought a subscription through the App Store, deleting your Forget account does not cancel that subscription, because only Apple can do that; cancel it in the Subscriptions section of your iOS Settings. And records held by our analytics and notification providers are not removed automatically when you delete your account, so email us at [email protected] and we will have them deleted. Diagnostic and crash reports are the exception: because they are not tied to your account, there is nothing in them for us to look up and delete, and they age out on their own.
Everything in this policy applies to the iOS app unless it says otherwise. For clarity, this section summarises in one place how the iOS app handles your data.
Depending on where you live, you may have the right to access the information we hold about you, to receive a copy of it in a portable form, to correct it, to delete it, to object to or restrict how we use it, and to withdraw consent you previously gave. If you are in California, you also have the right not to be treated differently for exercising these rights. We do not sell personal information and we do not share it for cross-context behavioural advertising as those terms are defined under California law.
To exercise any of these rights, email [email protected]. We will respond within the time the applicable law allows. If you are in the UK or the EEA and you are unhappy with our response, you have the right to complain to your local data protection authority.
You can opt out of marketing emails at any time by clicking the unsubscribe link at the bottom of any marketing email, by changing your preference in your settings, or by emailing [email protected].
Even if you opt out, we will still send you emails that are necessary to run your account, such as security notifications, changes to our terms, replies to your support requests, and billing and subscription information. These cannot be opted out of while your account is active.
Forget is operated from the United States and our service providers are located in the United States and elsewhere. If you use Forget from outside the United States, your information will be transferred to and processed in countries whose data protection laws may differ from those in your own. Where we transfer information out of the UK or the EEA, we rely on appropriate safeguards such as the European Commission's standard contractual clauses.
Forget is not intended for children. You must be at least 13 years old to use it, or at least 16 if you are in the European Economic Area. We do not knowingly collect personal information from children below those ages. If you believe a child has given us their information, email us at [email protected] and we will delete it.
We protect your information within commercially acceptable means to prevent loss and theft, as well as unauthorised access, disclosure, copying, use or modification. Data is encrypted in transit, access to production systems is restricted, and we rely on established providers for authentication and payments so that credentials and card details are not handled by us directly.
That said, no method of electronic transmission or storage is completely secure and no one can guarantee absolute data security. We will comply with the laws that apply to us in respect of any data breach.
We may update this policy as Forget changes. When we do, we will update the effective date at the top of this page. If the change is significant, we will tell you by email or in the app before it takes effect. Continuing to use Forget after a change takes effect means you accept the updated policy.
